Position Overview: Works interdependently with physician's oversight in the technical management of implanted cardiac pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) devices. Provides quality care to patients undergoing invasive Electrophysiology (EP) procedures and related surgical procedures and assists the electrophysiologist during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Manages device patients and their care and implements treatment plans at a highly developed skill level in collaboration with physicians and other members of the health care team. Able to perform adjustments to programming per order and troubleshoot basic, intermediate, and advanced device issues. Participates in ongoing technical training on advanced mapping techniques and may train and orient newly hired EP personnel to master non-nursing technical skills of EP.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Demonstrates advanced and in-depth knowledge/understanding of the device technology, the purpose of device implant, expected alteration in clinical condition, and potential device-related causes for patient symptoms.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively and consistently troubleshoot device problems in the wide array of implantable device types implanted.
- Able to interrogate pacemakers and ICDs from all major manufacturers.
- Able to analyze device function including review of parameters, testing of sensing and capture for each lead, assessing lead integrity and battery status.
- Demonstrates understanding of the interaction between programming changes and the potential clinical outcome and collaborates with MD to ensure best programming.
- Able to evaluate stored and real-time EKGs and identify arrhythmias, pacing or sensing problems, and identify appropriate or inappropriate device intervention for arrhythmias.
- Notifies the MD of abnormal findings and appropriately seeks guidance regarding programming changes or referral for further evaluation by MD.
EDUCATION:
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- Associate's: physical sciences or healthcare-related sciences or equivalent education/experience.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support
DEPARTMENT REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
- Department: Pediatrics, PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
- 8 years recent relevant experience
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Thorough knowledge and practice in 3D mapping, bloom stimulator, stereotaxis, and intracardiac echo.
- Proficiency in programmed electrical stimulation and pacing protocols.
- Proficiency in pacemaker and defibrillator interrogation and programming.
- Knowledge of intra-cardiac echo, advanced knowledge and experience in pacing and cardiac rhythm management devices.
- Job requires proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly.

Pay Range is $59.85 to $74.80 / hour.
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
