How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:
The primary function of the psychometrist is to provide direct patient care, including the independent administration and scoring of psychological and neuropsychological tests selected by the clinical psychologist or neuropsychologist. Related functions include continuous assessment of patient needs, behavior, and validity of test results.
- Attends to patient needs, including using his/her discretion in adapting administration of tests to the specific needs of each patient while staying within the standardized procedures set forth for each specific test.
- Continuously assesses and exercises judgment in determining patient’s ability to complete each test and procedure during evaluations and provides this information to attending psychologist. Independently selects appropriate alternative tests if needed and/or reschedules patients to complete testing.
- Gathers data and information about patients from patients, family members, and other staff, which will be a part of the patient's evaluation and treatment as dictated and interpreted by the attending psychologist.
- Writes observations of patient behavior to be used by the attending psychologist in interpreting test performance, emotional state, and behavioral functioning.
- Independently scores the administered tests and prepares a summary of scores for the final report that becomes part of the patient’s medical record.
- Trains, educates, and supervises new psychometricians and students/residents regarding test administration, scoring, and test summary preparation. Specifically, ensures that others administer tests in a standardized, structured manner.
- Reviews and ensures timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of test results and patient information.
- Provides direct patient services via referral from the licensed clinical psychologist who shall provide comprehensive diagnostic findings and recommendations.
- In a 1:1 setting, independently administers certain diagnostic assessment procedures selected by the attending psychologist. This shall include neuropsychological tests of intelligence, achievement, motor skills, behavior, emotional functioning, and personality.
What We Require:
Education: Bachelors Degree from accredited university in Social Sciences or Biological Sciences required.
Experience: Experience in social services or psychology preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to speak English fluently, high attention to detail, expertise in Microsoft Office software, and good communication skills.
