The successful candidate will be supporting the department's sisters for all aspects of the role, including managing junior staff, delivering individual patient care, and coordinating clinics and clinic allocations. Support cross-site service in both the Orthopaedic and Fracture clinics, with your primary base being Gloucester Royal Hospital. Part of the role will be to assess complex wounds, support ongoing staff and patient education, and participate in audits to improve patient and staff experience.

We are a busy Orthopaedic and fracture clinic managing a variety of orthopaedic conditions and fractures. Across both sites, we have 28 Consultants specializing in hands, feet, shoulders, hips, spines, and knees. We are a friendly and professional team that works with various multi-disciplinary teams. We are always looking to improve our service and have conducted several audits and studies surrounding patient-centered care and information. We welcome new ideas and staff innovations, as well as training and developing our staff. There are opportunities to gain competencies in the care of the cast and learn how to apply casts and splints.

- Registered Nurse with a minimum of one year post-registration experience desirable but not essential

Job responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care with the multidisciplinary team
- Communicate effectively, especially where patient ability to do so is compromised
- Deliver safe care within a challenging and changing clinical environment
- Administer medication and treatment within guidelines
- Deliver and receive information that may cause emotional distress
- Participate in mentorship and educational programs for students and team members
- Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures and professional code of conduct
- Supervise and mentor unqualified/qualified staff and students
- Input and retrieve patient information from computer-based systems and maintain accurate records
- Support multi-professionals within the department, advising patients on pre-operative and post-operative care
- Undertake specific delegated tasks following appropriate training and competency level
- Undertake the British Orthopaedic Association Course (BOA)
- Undertake the Ponseti Course and work closely with the Lead physiotherapist
- Gain competency in applying splints, braces, and other equipment
