Youth Treatment Specialist - Jefferson County YouthResidential Program (3rd Shift) Job Code:2023-SPECIALI-032Location:Watertown Department:Specialized Service Programs FT/PTStatus:Full Time Job Responsibilities: Youth Treatment Specialist 3rdShift Wisconsin Community Services (WCS) Specialized Services Program -Jefferson County Youth Crisis Stabilization Facility Position Summary:Exciting opportunity to work in a therapeutic milieu environment servingyouth at State certified Youth Crisis Stabilization Facility servingyouth, ages 10-17. The Youth Treatment Specialist embraces working withone to three youth teaching skills and empowering youth during a mentalhealth crisis. Youth treatment specialists provide supervision of theyouth and are responsible for ensuring safety of youth during sleepinghours. Essential Functions: Serve as a treatment specialist in themilieu supporting therapeutic interactions by coaching skill usethroughout activities, modeling appropriate behavior, teaching andreinforcing use and generalization of skills. Perform third shift roomchecks per policy and follow clinical recommendations for safety such assuicide protocol, involving mobile crisis, and utilizing safety planningand protocols.. Conduct room searches, complete laundry, buildingcleaning and supporting inventory process. Use evidence-based bestpractices for youth with mental health, substance use and lifeneeds.This includes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma informedcare, motivational interviewing, youth centered, and culturally reverentapproaches while celebrating youth\'s development and identity. Usemotivation and engagement strategies to encourage youth involved insystems such as the court services and Department of Children andFamilies to participate in treatment programming and involvement inprogram activities. Always provide active sight and sound supervision toyouth and families with complex needs. Assess youth behavior for risk toself and others or behavioral changes within the treatment milieu andcommunicate with supervisory and/or clinical staff regarding appropriatesupport as needed. Perform milieu management and coaching with youthexperiencing emotional dysregulation and/or crisis according to theirtreatment plans including one-on-one support for the plan for extrahelp. Calmly and responsibly respond during crisis situations andintervene to de-escalate using trained and approved methods andtechniques of verbal and physical intervention to maintain safety in theenvironment.
