Responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens both routine and specialized and the subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Technical Duties
- Evaluates specimens for acceptability and accurately performs all testing using current methodologies, instruments and manual methods if applicable.
- Quality
- Investigates and documents problems with unacceptable specimens.
- Problem solving
- Follows established guidelines for troubleshooting instrument, reagent or specimen problems.
- Regulation Compliance
- Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety.
- Phlebotomy
- Accurately performs phlebotomy (venipuncture, finger stick, heelstick) when requested or when required by workload demand.
- People
- Participates in staff meetings, helps promote effective working relationships.
- Customer Service
- Uses Patient/Family center values and conducts all work activities with respect for the rights and wishes of patients, visitors, and patients' families.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
AS degree in Laboratory Science or MLT from an accredited institution or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience preferred.
LICENSURE
American Society of Clinical Pathologists certification (MLT-ASCP) preferred.
