What You Will Do
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the RN Cardiac Cath Lab/Procedure Room/Electrophysiology Lab/Cardiac Short Stay, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients/residents receive comprehensive support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assess patients' physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families.
- Make referrals to resources as needed.
- Support fellow healthcare professionals.
- Operate within the framework of Providence Health Care's mission, vision, and values.
What You Bring
Education:
- Current practicing registration as a BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Completion of a post graduate critical care course, or one year recent experience in a critical care or equivalent setting.
Skills and Abilities:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
- Organizational skills to manage work effectively.
- Proficiency in operating related equipment.

The Heart Centre at St. Paul’s is BC’s only referral centre for the most complex cardiac cases and is a leader in cardiac obstetrics, heart rhythm services and heart valve procedures. Your Day to Day:
- Conduct thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews, observations, interviews, and collaboration with peers.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices, prioritizing patient/resident needs.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursing care.
- Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans, patient/resident status, and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems.
- Identify and address patient/resident and family learning needs, providing education and referrals as necessary.
- Provide direction to staff, promote teamwork, and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care.
- Support nursing research initiatives and contribute to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures.
- Advocate for patients/residents' rights and dignity, facilitate discharge plans, and collaborate with families and community resources.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
