Job Summary
As a Field Clinical Specialist, you are a critical part of the TAVR field team that works closely with heart centers, physicians, and hospital staff to provide clinical support for MiRus’ TAVR procedures. As the clinical expert, you have deep product knowledge and a clear understanding of heart pathophysiology and aortic stenosis patients.
Responsibilities
- MiRus’ Product & Portfolio Knowledge: A TAVR Field Clinical Specialist has a detailed understanding of MiRus products and services. As a clinical and technical expert, you are a thought leader for physicians in the product and the disease.
- Disease & Therapy Knowledge: TAVR Field Clinical Specialists are experts in aortic stenosis. As an all-around therapy expert, you have extensive and detailed knowledge in the disease and patient condition and are seen as a trusted resource and partner by implanters and customers.
- Clinical Data Expertise: As a Field Clinical Specialist, you can proactively apply your understanding of the latest clinical research in order to draw links between clinical data and the real patient setting. You are the TAVR expert in interpreting clinical data relating to the treatment options for specific patients.
- OR/Cath Lab Management: In the Cath lab/OR, you provide support during the procedure and can react quickly to unexpected situations. You are able to prepare the device and are entirely familiar with OR/Cath Lab process and surgical unit team. The Cath lab/OR staff and physicians see you as an expert. You can demonstrate situational leadership during stressful procedures but remain a team player who can communicate effectively to each member of the team.
- Imaging Expertise: As an imaging expert, you show detailed knowledge in reading imaging data and can interpret echocardiography data, CT-scans, etc. You support clinical decisions on valve choice and size based on imaging data, can have detailed discussions with implanters on treatment decisions and a key part of the procedure planning.
- Business Acumen: In addition to deep clinical knowledge, you also have a strong business acumen and can adapt your style to communicate with both clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, such as hospital administration. You understand competitor products and capabilities, technically and clinically. You work hand in hand with your manager and use financial metrics to understand the state of the business and achieve territory goals.
- Customer Leadership: As a FCS, you have foundational customer and proctor relationships. Most importantly, you are the specialist of the patient journey and patient flow optimization. With the customer, you can communicate benchmarks, provide advice and coaching and are point of contact for technical and professional education.
- Teamwork and Leadership: The Field Clinical Specialist can work independently but remains a key member of the territory team. You understand the TAVR organization and can foster an environment where sharing best practices is the standard. You are a good listener and experienced in working with physicians. You are a skilled teacher and able to provide advice, coaching, and support to others on how to design innovative solutions to optimize process efficiency and implementation plan.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field with training experience in clinical/technical environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders. This position will require close collaboration with internal stakeholders as well as external physician partners.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
- Demonstrated excellence in meeting customer/patient expectations.
- Effectiveness in understanding complex medical cases and resolving difficult situations.
- Ability to solve problems and set priorities.
- Self-motivation and willingness to make a difference in the lives of patients.
- Highly professional and ethical behavior while contributing to the overall success of the company.
- Adaptable and self-aware: you can adjust to the dynamics of a fast-paced and sometimes high-stress Cath lab/OR environment.
- Confident using modern communication tools, MS Office, and willingness to learn other software programs as needed.
- Strong aptitude for cardiac anatomy and physiology.
- Experience working in cardiac Cath lab and/or operation room.
- Up to 80% travel.
