The department of Medicine, division of Gastroenterology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Clinical Dietitian 2 to work on the UHealth campus. The Clinical Dietitian 2 (H) promotes good dietary health and treats medical conditions by devising eating plans for patients based on the science of nutrition. The Clinical Dietitian 2 (H) formulates and executes programs and materials to educate people about nutrition and coordinates, plans, and conducts programs to educate patients about nutrition. The Clinical Dietitian 2 (H) administers medical nutrition therapy and advises food service operations for clinical trials.
CORE FUNCTIONS
- Participates in clinical trial recruitment of dietary studies.
- Meets directly with patients/clinical trial participants to identify nutritional needs.
- Identifies ways to improve the care of patients and makes recommendations to appropriate staff.
- Performs research and recommends ways to expand and improve nutrition programs.
- Evaluates the effects of meal plans, dietary recipes for research and revises the plans when appropriate.
- Plans menus and inspects food to ensure portions adhere to set restrictions and dietary standards for research clinical trials.
- Assesses patients’ nutritional status and develops individualized nutritional plans.
- Relays appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
- Triages patients to determine the urgency of physician evaluation.
- Documents and reports care in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Collaborates with the development of education materials for clinical trial participants.
- Identifies and accounts for specific ethnic, cultural, and religious needs.
- Responds to, resolves, and follows up regarding patient inquiries, clinical trial participants or concerns.
- Enters food diaries for research participants in food composition database.
- Works with other members of the research team to recruit participants, provide dietary guidance, ensure delivery of meals, data capture and data management.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Registered Dietician
Experience in providing guidance to patients with inflammatory bowel disease is a plus.
