Description
Performs molecular genetics assays and general laboratory maintenance for the Microarray team.
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conducts laboratory assays in the Microarray department (whole genome amplification, fragmentation, precipitation, hybridization, and staining) using the Illumina microarray platform.
- Prepares and maintains reagent stocks.
- Monitors supply inventories.
- Maintains records of laboratory work and sample tracking.
- Follows all laboratory procedures and policies, including quality control and quality system activities, and documents appropriately all records, deviations, and corrective actions as required.
- Operates and maintains sophisticated laboratory equipment to complete experiments in an efficient manner.
- Assists with troubleshooting issues with assays, equipment, or procedures.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Assists with other laboratory production pipelines as needed.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree or higher in Biological Science or related field.
- Excellent laboratory technique, with high accuracy and precision, including pipetting skills, sterile technique, and ability to follow laboratory protocols without deviation.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately with large amounts of samples and data.
- Must have meticulous organization skills and a high attention to detail.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel, and ability to navigate laboratory LIMS systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing.
- Minimum of 1 year previous relevant laboratory experience, preferably with microarray platforms and/or general molecular genetics assays and techniques.
