MHC Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Practitioner – Family Practice (FNP) to join the Urgent Care/Quick Care team at the Dove Mountain Health Center – Urgent Care, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. The FNP provides quality healthcare to patients in an urgent care environment. Uses independent judgment in carrying out daily job responsibilities. Position is supervised by the Medical Director, but takes day-to-day direction from the Urgent Care Lead Physician for clinically-related matters. MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 17 sites in Tucson and Pima County. The following qualifications are required:
- Master’s degree (MSN) from an accredited school of nursing, combined with two (2) years of related experience; required.
- Family Nurse Practitioner master’s degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice.
- Candidate without the MSN, but whose Nurse Practitioner certification is current and was grandfathered-in prior to the Master’s degree becoming a requirement for the credential will be considered if they also have required hands-on experience.
- Completion and maintenance of annual CME requirements for licensure (CME should be relevant to provider scope of medicine); required.
- Licensed by the Arizona Board of Nursing to practice medicine in Arizona; required.
- ACLS certified; required.
- Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire).
The following qualifications are preferred:
- Two to five (2-5) years’ experience in an urgent care or medical practice setting; preferred.
- Experience in a group medicine practice setting; preferred.
- Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or Primary Health Care environment preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.
This position will have 3, 12-hour shifts per week.

- Possesses a reasonable level of knowledge of community and public health systems and issues.
- Proficient in diagnostic procedures and treatment of illnesses and injuries in an Urgent Care setting.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of pharmacology, nutrition and mental health.
- Able to become or already credentialed with all healthcare plans accepted by MHC Healthcare (MHC).
- Friendly, courteous, service-oriented and professional demeanor.
- Remains calm and professional in stressful situations.
- Team player with a 'can do' attitude that can work in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to establish and maintain a professional atmosphere for employees, clients and customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs patient care responsibilities in accordance with the highest standards of quality care and generally accepted professionalism shown.
- Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries, diseases and deformities, which include symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive healthcare measures.
- Effectively communicates with other integrated providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Adheres to written clinical policies, protocols and procedures concerning clinic operations, written guidelines, staffing patterns and coverage, case management, risk management and Quality Improvement.
- Able to adapt to situations regarding patient care and the work environment.
- Communicates on a regular basis with the Urgent Care Lead Physician, Medical Director and administrative leadership on medical and non-medical issues.
- Provides leadership for clinical support staff and clinical operations.
- Provides direct patient care in accordance with the specific medical specialty job description.
- Works closely with the supervisors responsible for management and performance of support staff.
- Assists in maintaining fiscal stability of the corporation by understanding and identifying opportunities, priorities, goals and objectives of health care provided by MHC.
- Able to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
- Able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Able to apply mathematical and statistical concepts.
- Applies principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Able to deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs) in its most difficult phases.
- Able to deal with and solve practical problems from a variety of abstract or concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Able to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members to build and enhance teamwork among provider staff and in the overall health center organization.
- Able to understand and respond appropriately, effectively and sensitively to special population groups served.
- Works within a standardized system to provide clinical feedback to the patient’s primary care provider.
- Participates in implementing the healthcare plan.
- Participates in monthly provider meeting and other meetings as assigned by Medical Director and/or the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
- Maintains after-hours availability for staff consultation on patient care issues as relates to policies and procedures.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
- Assists in conflict resolution and the daily flow of the clinic as needed.
- Promotes education of medical and non-medical staff in relevant topics.
- Works to increase and achieve maximum productivity levels without sacrificing quality of care.
- Exhibits positive attitude when given feedback regarding productivity, peer review, patient satisfaction surveys and billing/coding audits.
- Completes other related duties as required.
