The Center for Health Outcomes, Policy & Economics (HOPE) program at Rutgers University is part of Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences (RBHS) and participates in interdisciplinary professional education and training partnerships with the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and the Rutgers School of Public Health.
The Rutgers HOPE Fellowship Program, in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, Real World Value & Evidence (RWV&E) group, offers a significant opportunity to individuals interested in the broader field of health economics & outcomes research (HEOR). The Fellowship Program provides robust learning experiences related to the science and application of HEOR, including cost studies, data analytics, economic models, real-world evidence, services utilization analysis, systematic literature reviews, and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) research.
The Fellow will be employed for one year by Rutgers University and will work on-site with researchers at Johnson & Johnson offices in Titusville, NJ. Examples of the Fellowship activities include:
- Conduct burden of illness evaluations to better characterize patient and population unmet needs through database analysis and literature reviews.
- Conduct comparative effectiveness research using Real-World Data.
- Develop health economic models to characterize and communicate the budget impact and cost-effectiveness of new and/or existing therapeutics.
- Contribute to trial design by incorporating PROs and health economic measures through evidence-based literature reviews and PRO questionnaire evaluation.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to better understand how real-world evidence can be used in the decision-making process associated with the development and commercialization of new pharmaceutical products.
- Develop and hone people skills, including emotional intelligence, leadership, communication, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration.
Minimum Education and Experience
Requires a PhD, PharmD, or other relevant doctoral or scientific training (PhD preferred). Some relevant fields include health services research, public health, health economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, pharmacy, pharmacy administration, and medicine.
