Overview
The Medical Technologist I uses a high degree of skill to prepare blood, urine and body fluid samples, and perform laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. This individual may specialize in one or more of the following areas: biochemistry, bacteriology, toxicology, parasitology, serology, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis or blood banking. The Medical Technologist I analyzes results and reports through laboratory computer system. He/she performs related duties including quality control, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, workload recording, incomplete work lists, ordering and stocking supplies. The Medical Technologist I follows state and other agency regulations, as well as organizes and prioritizes workload for maximum productivity.
The qualified candidate will possess the following:
A. Education
1. Associate's degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institute
B. Experience
1. One year formal training in Medical Laboratory Technology
2. Demonstrates a thorough technical knowledge of assigned areas
C. Licensure/Certification
1. Registered Medical Technologist, ASCP or equivalent, or eligible
