CLINICAL SUPERVISOR
General Policy:
Distinguishing Features
Completion 90-day probationary period. This individual manages and administers the day-to-day operations of a program and supervises ten (10) or fewer clinical staff, and thus is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the therapeutic care, recovery, and rehabilitation conducted in the facility. The Clinical Supervisor works closely with the Program Director to train, supervise, and direct a staff performing the above.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise Clinical Staff in monitoring the Outpatient Program and in the use of clinical interventions.
- Develop, implement, and monitor training needs and plans of clinical staff according to policy guidelines.
- Provide close supervision of required documentation of participant records, recovery plans, programming, census, CQI, UR, etc., according to established policies, which comply with licensing, funding, and regulatory agencies.
- Under the supervision of the Director or designee, plan, develop and implement a program structure, curriculum, and phase system.
- Review at least 15% of all clinical documentation per week and complete audit forms indicating the corrective action plan and responsible clinician.
- Facilitate case consults to review incident reports, difficult placements, resident progress, and special needs on a regular basis.
- Intervene in difficult cases and approve all learning experiences, sanctions, referrals, or transfers to specialized care.
- Be responsible for the supervision of the continuum of care, follow-up, aftercare, and alumni components.
- Be responsible for the facility when the Director or designee is unavailable.
- Plan, develop and implement morning, afternoon, and evening interventions (groups/individuals).
- Design educational curriculum and moderate special groups such as gender-specific, life skills, anger management, medication management, and family meetings.
- Attend, participate, and when necessary, facilitate meetings and special events such as Director’s Meetings (DMHAS, Drug Court, SAI, etc.), retreats, trips, workshops, etc.
- Be available to work weekends and evenings when scheduled.
- Support and demonstrate adherence to Another Door Opens Recovery Center’s Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, and all personnel policies and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate professional certificates and credentials.
- Other duties as described in the Job Description or as assigned by the Director or designee.
Equipment and Working Conditions
All materials and equipment necessary to perform job functions are provided. Staff members can be transferred if it has been decided it is in the best interest of the agency and will enhance services provided.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the basic principles, practices, and procedures involved in Another Door Opens Recovery Center.
- Thorough knowledge of the drug and alcohol abusing subculture.
- Knowledge of the physical and emotional characteristics and manifestations of drug dependency.
- Considerable knowledge of individual and group behavior and the effective ways of working with them.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in developing, implementing, interpreting, and evaluating program policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to exercise administrative and professional supervision over employees.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, other members of staff, outside agencies, institutions, and the general public.
- Ability to identify the needs of participants and to gain their confidence and cooperation.
Minimum Requirements
Education/Training: Degree or CAC plus specialized training in supervision or a required area such as adolescents, family, women, Mental Health, Criminal Justice, etc.
Experience: Masters Degree + 2 years experience; or BA/BS or CAC + 2 years experience; or AA/AS + 3 years experience. Note: All experience must be clinical in a health or human service agency, which includes one year of working with the chemically dependent, plus two years of supervisory experience.
Sobriety: If recovering, two (2) years sobriety.
