DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Men’s Health Center at UW Medical Center-Roosevelt emphasizes urologic, sexual and reproductive care for conditions such as infertility, prostate cancer, and erectile dysfunction. Our physicians and staff are experienced in advanced medical therapies and minimally invasive procedures. And as part of the UW Medicine health system, we also can connect patients with cardiology, endocrinology and other specialists. Our clinic provides men a private, supportive environment where various conditions can be evaluated and treated. Our hope is that men will also become more knowledgeable about, and involved in, their overall health.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
- Perform injections
- Prepare and clean exam rooms
- Submit medication prior authorizations
- Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
- Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
- Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
- Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
- Assist in transporting patients as required
REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
- Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
