The Nurse Manager is responsible for providing direct oversight and workflow guidance for the daily operations of the Primary & Specialty Care Practice. They are responsible for performing the duties of a registered nurse, manage direct reports and assist with quality assessment and improvement. They collaborate with and support team members to ensure a patient-focused approach to care.
Essential Functions of this Role:
- Oversees daily workflow of assigned clinical staff; assures adequate staffing by determining staff assignments to provide essential coverage.
- Oversees telephone triage through monitoring of phone queue and ensuring ClearTriage is utilized.
- Monitors daily operations to help ensure adherence to documented administrative and departmental policies and procedures.
- Communicates status of daily operations as well as problems hindering workflow to Director of Clinical Operations in a timely manner.
- Works in collaboration with other nursing leads to ensure clinic duties, tasks and coverage are completed within specified timeframe of agency policies and procedures.
- Collaborates and supports the team members to ensure a patient-focused approach to care.
- Maintains medical supply, medication, and vaccine inventory.
- Conducts ordering of supplies.
- Ensures regulatory compliance by completing monthly safety rounds.
- Ensures invoices and billing correspondence are addressed timely.
- Develops, maintains, and holds nursing department staff accountable to policies and procedures.
- Conducts monthly staff meetings.
- Intercedes to support patients in clinical issues and complaints as soon as able; assists in de-escalating, documenting, and supporting resolution.
- Functions as a Registered Nurse in direct patient care.
- Actively strives to improve patient service delivery through participation in Quality Improvement activities.
Qualified Candidate Requirements:
The qualified candidate will have:
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in New York State.
- Current BCLS certification.
- One (1) year of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in an HIV/AIDS or other infectious disease practice.
- Familiarity with computers, EMR software (Medent), and MS Office software (Outlook, Word).
- Previous supervisory experience is ideal.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally.
- A valid NYS driver license and insured, dependable car to use for traveling to all Testing & Sexual Health sites.
- Sensitivity toward cultural diversity, people living with HIV/AIDS, and lifestyle and addiction issues is essential.
