SouthCoast Imaging Dept. is looking for a Full-Time Radiology Technologist.
Provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures, recognizing patient conditions requiring immediate action and responds as necessary. Additionally, is responsible for assisting the technical nursing staff with direct patient care and related procedures. Performs majority of exams with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic radiologic procedures, protocol, methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of latest trends and techniques in radiologic technology.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when conducting or assisting with diagnostic radiologic procedures which occupies approximately 90% of work time.
- Ability to lift up to 60lbs, which occupies approximately 50% of work time when assisting and positioning body parts or handling/transporting supplies.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates competency in the use of all applicable aspects of the PACS, Information System, Clinical Information System (CIS), and other computer system unique to each imaging section.
- Routinely questions the patient before a procedure to obtain a patient history; always questions female patients as to possibility of pregnancy; documents all relevant information. Transfers patient to imaging table, explains procedure and positions the patient according to protocol.
- Performs radiographic procedures, producing images for interpretation by a physician. Evaluates radiographs for technical and overall quality. Provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures. Operates computers associated with the imaging equipment used to produce, process and optimize clinical data. Archives images onto appropriate media for the section involved.
- Organizes daily work schedule. Performs on-call duties and/or works variable shifts as assigned to meet the needs of the department.
Education/Experience:
Graduate of an A.M.A. approved allied health program in radiologic technology or specific to modality as employed. Minimum one year customer service experience, preferably in a health care setting.
Requirements:
Professional registry for modality employed in, when mandated by federal or section certifications or registry eligible (i.e. ARRT, RT). Must maintain continued education (CE) credits as required. Current BLS/CPR required.
