UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Clinic Registration Specialist to join our Clinical Operations Group. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Remote Position-Selected candidate must have a permanent address and live in New Mexico or be willing to relocate to New Mexico.
The ideal candidate will have experience partnering with clinical check-in and registration staff to verify insurance, register patients, and obtain prior authorizations. This key position ensures patients services are billed and paid correctly.
Minimum $38,916 - Midpoint $48,651*
*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.
*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.
Summary
Under general supervision, facilitates the coordination of clinic frontline services. Provides guidance and support to staff in areas of scheduling, registration, pre-registration, insurance verification and prior authorization. Assists with coordination of appointments and scheduling. Performs pre-registration, verifies insurance coverage eligibility and benefits. Interfaces with patients in a professional and efficient manner to update patient insurance and demographic information. Works in collaboration with clinic staff to provide frontline training to new hires, and continual training to existing staff.
Minimum Job Requirements of a Clinic Registration Specialist:
High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of directly related experience acquired working in a medical environment. Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Clinic Registration Specialist:
- Coordinates the day-to-day activities of registration, scheduling, order processing, insurance verification, and prior authorizations.
- Interviews patients and/or families to obtain demographic and insurance information and updates appropriate systems.
- Verifies insurance coverage and benefits for all patient visits in assigned area.
- Conducts frontline training for processes to include registration, financial/cash management, billing, prior authorizations, scheduling, mail/courier process, end of day processes, computer programs- IDX and Cerner.
- Obtains insurance verification system access for employees who verify insurance eligibility.
- Provides ongoing communication and training of UNMMG frontline staff and notify of any insurance notifications or changes to contracted/non-contracted insurance companies.
- Communicates Payer Alerts, from Office of Clinical Contracting to all clinics.
- Coordinates and processes referrals and prior authorization information into the appropriate systems to ensure proper flow to Revenue Cycle to ensure proper reimbursement.
- Maintains record keeping and filing systems; gathers, enters, and updates required data.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
