ResponsibilitiesPrimarily performs Abdominal, Small Parts, OB/Gyn, Pediatric, and Vascular sonographic procedures. Ensures quality standards are met and promotes continuous quality improvement. Maintains current knowledge of sonographic technology and equipment, as applicable. Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills. Acts as a knowledge resource for students, technologists, and others.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs Abdominal, Small Parts, OB/Gyn, Pediatric, and Vascular sonographic procedures according to department standard in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provides patient education in the form of written material and/or verbal explanation prior to, during and subsequent to the procedure in order to reduce the patient’s anxiety and enhance his/her comfort zone with respect to tolerance of the procedure.
- Produces examinations that meet image quality standards in accordance to department protocols.
- Submits images for physician interpretation.
- Verifies accuracy of: patient demographic information, pertinent clinical diagnosis, and required technical results. Data must be entered accurately and in a timely fashion to provide optimal patient care.
- Verifies all technical data entry components are complete prior to the end of shift.
- Monitors stock of supplies in imagining rooms to assure their regular availability by timely reordering, rotation of dated items, and by maintenance of a clean and orderly environment.
- Reports incidences of equipment failure.
- Actively supports organizational changes.
- Adheres to institutional safety procedures as described in the institutional safety program.
- Actively participates in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Works closely with nurses and physicians to achieve positive outcomes and optimal patient flow.
- Performs job functions while modeling service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
QualificationsEDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
- Must be flexible in covering different shifts and locations, including Weekends and Holidays
- Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography with 1-3 years work experience.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification is mandatory. RDMS (AB, OB) required.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification required.
EXPERIENCE:
1-3 years of Ultrasound Experience.
