A mid-level Research Associate to be a member of the Genomics lab in Wilmington, DE. Responsible for DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing library prep and QC, running NGS sequencers and carrying out qPCR experiments.
The Genomics lab is part of the Data Analytics group in R&D at IFF and it provides Next Generation DNA/RNA Sequencing (NGS) and Real Time PCR support to R&D, Regulatory, and Manufacturing. IFF's R&D Center in Wilmington, DE is a major R&D center of excellence for all biotechnology, including molecular biology & microbiology, biochemistry, host engineering, microbiome science, automation, and fermentation.
The associate will be responsible for DNA/RNA purification, sequencing library preparation and QC, NGS DNA Sequencer and associated equipment operation, molecular biology method development, and interacting with project scientists for troubleshooting and implementing process improvements. The associate will divide their time between DNA sequencing, Real Time PCR, and other laboratory responsibilities. Experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR, Q-PCR, DNA/RNA purification, gel electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing are essential. Candidates should be self-motivated, thrive in a research team environment, and be eager to take on new challenges.
- Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field, with a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience, which could include equivalent advanced degrees.
- Experience working with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology is highly desirable.
- Basic molecular biology/biochemistry laboratory skills.
- Strong inter-personal and effective written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and promote a safe working environment.
