Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) has an opportunity for a Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. The Hospitals are part of the NYC Health + Hospitals System (NYCHHC). Jacobi is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and NCB has 213 licensed beds. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein Medical College to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.

Responsibilities
Working as a Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi will offer you a warm and caring work environment surrounded by supportive staff and physicians. We honor all legal holidays and on-call duties plus excellent benefits. Work schedule is 8 hours per day, starting at 7-3, 8-4, or 9-5 depending on rotation. Radiopeptide protocols:
- F-Estradiol (Cerianna) PET imaging - only site in Bronx
- Ga-PSMA PET imaging
- Ga-Dotatate PET imaging
- Lu-PSMA (Pluvicto) therapy - available and ready
- Lu-Dotatate (Luta-Thera) therapy - available and ready
In addition, we will launch Rubidium cardiac PET imaging in Spring 2024.
Provides imaging services in the Nuclear Medicine department in conformance with the departmental standards and service excellence standards while ensuring patient safety. Performs all nuclear medicine procedures required within the department, at both Jacobi and NCB sites. Successful candidate may be asked to cover both sites on a given day, as needed.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Proficient in the use of the following equipment designed to measure and image radioactivity:
- Dose calibrators
- Hand-held radioactivity detectors (Geiger-Muller detectors, Scintillation probes and detectors)
- Well counters
- Gamma cameras
- Single or multiple head
- Planar or SPECT capable
- PET capable
- SPECT/CT
- Perform quality control of all instruments.
- Receive radioactive tracers and determine if there is contamination of radioactivity in packaging.
- Perform safe handling and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Record keeping of radioactive material arrival and disposal.
- Determine radioactive material activity for use in imaging patients; and proper (safe and sterile techniques for administration of tracers for use in patients by a variety of appropriate routes of administration, including oral, intravenous, and inhalation.
- Use equipment to produce and save interpretable images; and to use software to derive quantitative information from imaging data using dedicated software.
- Survey the laboratory for radioactive contamination and to handle contamination and spills.
- Assist clerical staff when needed in scheduling, checking in, and calling patients.
- Document procedures in the Epic electronic medical record as well as paper documents.
- Transmit images to the PACS system.
- Treat all patients with respect and dignity, and attend to their needs.
Qualifications
New Graduates who are board-eligible can be considered.
One of the following certifications preferred:
- NMTCB (CT) (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board - CT)
- ARRT-(N)(CT) (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Nuclear Medicine and CT)
The individual must keep the New York State License up to date, with a minimum of 12 Continuing Education credits per year.
