Job Description – Position Details: 16 weeks assignment
CVT ICU
12 HR PM; every other weekend and every other holiday
At least 1 year experience in cardiac surgery. No locals accepted (locals are considered to be 50 miles away from the facility)
Dysrhythmia required (study guide available)
BLS & ACLS required.
Unit Specific Details:
5 bed ICU, Vasopressors, blood, sedation, paralytics, CVLs, temporary HD caths, Swan catheters, impella, balloon pump, CRRT, Ventilator, BiPAP. Patient population is underserved with multiple chronic co-morbidities. Support staff includes RT, 2-3 nurses on unit. Need to be very independent and confident with taking fresh post-op CABG, AVR/MVR that may require balloon pump or impella.
Essential Job Functions:
Conducts and analyzes initial and ongoing patient assessment, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness. Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures. Serves as point of contact for patient's care coordination throughout hospital departments. Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department and collaborates with spiritual care, palliative, and ethics when needed. Performs nursing care associated with life-supporting technology/modalities including ventilator management, CRRT, IABP, Impella, ECMO. Performs hemodynamic monitoring and manages critically ill patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multi-system trauma.
Licensing/Certification:
Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required). BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care). ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (required within 6 months of hire).
Education:
Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred).
Work Experience:
1 year of RN experience (required). 6 months RN experience in a Med/Surg, Critical Care, Stepdown, or Emergency Department Unit (preferred).
