DESCRIPTION
Decypher is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the contract at Naval Health Center Miramar San Diego, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival.
- Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
- Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.
- Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs on the correct form.
- Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
- Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of examination rooms.
- Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
- Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.
- Perform various administrative functions as directed, such as answering telephones and transcribing accurate messages, assisting with patient check-in, assisting with scheduling appointments, placing appointment reminder telephone calls. Administrative duties are in addition to clinical duties and will be no more than 20% of all workloads.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree: Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Education: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by one of the following: Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces or be a graduate from a medical assistant program approved for certification by the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants or Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) or Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) or Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) or Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior College (ACCJC).
- Experience: For MAs no prior working experience required. The MA can be a recent graduate from an approved training institution.
