SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, orders, conducts, supervises, interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests, and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of acute and chronic illness in the care of critically ill patients. Promotes health and the prevention of illness and injury. Practices autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to treat and manage patient health problems. The role of the APP includes direct patient/family care, consultation, research, and community advocacy to holistically care for complex patient care needs. Serves as a member of the ICU team with the primary responsibility of managing a caseload of critically ill patients under the supervision of the ICU supervising Physician.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Nurse or Master’s Degree as a Physician Assistant by the National Board of Medical Examiners or the Academy of Physician’s Assistants Required
- Two (2) or more years of experience as a critical care nurse or two (2) years serving as a Physician Assistant
- Current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse is required for NPs
- Current Georgia Authorization/Certification as a NP Advanced Practice Registered Professional Nurse is required
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician's Assistant, specializing in critical care services for inpatient settings
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required
