Alaris Health at Kearn, a 120 bed-skilled nursing Center in Kearny, New Jersey, seeks an infection control coordinator to participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the nursing care delivery system and translate the Center’s nursing philosophy into nursing practice. Additional responsibilities include:
- establishing guidelines for the prevention and spread of contagious, infectious or communicable disease
- assisting with monitoring for a sanitary environment for Center personnel, residents and visitors
- ensuring that all infection control policies and procedures are implemented and followed
- coordinating regular in-services on infection control practice at least quarterly
- assuming responsibility for detecting and reworking nosocomial infections on a systematic and current basis
- performing epistemological investigation of all significant infection clusters
- maintains active involvement in the Center’s quality improvement policy
- promoting and maintaining and safe environment
- and above all, ensuring that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing
- Minimum of three years of full-time or equivalent clinical experience
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience in long-term care nursing
- Minimum of one year in a management/administrative or supervisory capacity is preferred
- Attend annually an infection control seminar and understand the Center’s infection control manual
- Thorough knowledge of the specialized procedures applied and equipment used in the area to which assigned
- Knowledge of dietetic, sanitation, personal hygiene and infection control practice and procedures
- Working knowledge of principles of epidemiology and infectious diseases
- Possess the ability to positively interact with everyone from residents to government agencies and the general public
