The Parent Educator-On Call works with youth and/or their families to promote healthy development and deter negative behaviors such as substance abuse or juvenile crime. Services are given in fully virtual delivery methods at this time.
Location: This position is based out of LifeWorks NW's Beaverton site.
Pay/Benefits: $23.45 starting hourly pay. This is an on-call position.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate or co-facilitate parenting education and family engagement programs.
- Coordinate with service partners regarding parenting programs.
- Maintain contact with referral source(s) and/or other staff regarding program participants.
- Maintain records including mandatory requirements (e.g., reports of child abuse) and LifeWorks NW required reporting.
- Provide referral services to program participants, e.g., schools, health, mental health services, employment services, etc. Maintain awareness of community referral resources.
- Participate in regular meetings with supervisor and attend informational meetings which may include all-agency meetings, consultation meetings with community partners, intra-agency and online trainings, etc.
- Continually increase level of cultural sensitivity, awareness, and competency.
- Complete critical incident reports when indicated within 24 hours of a critical incident.
- Check e-mail/voice mail daily when working.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be certified in Strengthening Families Program: For Parents and Youth 10-14.
- Must have a bachelor's degree in human services or related field or equivalent experience. A greater degree of experience and/or education level may be required for greater risk populations. Training in prevention, substance abuse, or related topics is helpful.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills and ability to provide culturally competent treatment services to diverse client populations.
