Job Overview

The Department of Family & Community Medicine has played a leading role in fellow, resident, and medical student education since 1974 and continues to focus on improving the health of members of our Cincinnati community and beyond, with a special focus on medically underserved patients. With faculty expertise in areas such as primary care research, palliative care, geriatrics, global health and integrative medicine, the department is advancing the college's commitment to cultivating learning environments, fostering research and scholarship, and providing innovative patient care.
The Department of Family & Community Medicine is seeking two (2) Fellows to join the Global Health (GH) Fellowship program. The GH Fellowship Program is a one or two-year post-residency family medicine fellowship designed for physicians interested in caring for underserved/vulnerable populations while strengthening clinical and scholarly skills in global health. The two-year fellowship includes the option for tuition remission for the completion of a Master of Public Health (MPH) in global health.
The GH Fellowship is a non-ACGME-accredited fellowship in which the Fellow is appointed as an entry-level faculty member in the UC Department of Family & Community Medicine.
Essential Functions
- Clinical Care: Provide primary care for underserved and immigrant/refugee patients for approximately 20+hrs/week at a City of Cincinnati Primary Care location.
- LMIC Partner Capacity Building: Work with one of our international partners in improving their healthcare mission. Spend four weeks per year in-country as well as longitudinal involvement in our well-established partnership.
- Academic Leadership: Contribute to the academic mission of the Global and Underserved Health Division in Global Health by teaching residents and medical students.
Minimum Qualifications
- Medical Degree (MD or DO).
- Licensure by the State of Ohio Medical Board.
- Completion of a U.S. ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency in good standing.
- Foundational knowledge in global health, such as the completion of a 1-month medical school course or residency rotation.
Required Education
Professional Degree - MD, DO or equivalent.
Required Trainings/Certifications
Current Ohio medical license by the date of hire.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Clinician Cultural and Linguistic Assessment (CCLA) level fluency in Spanish.
