We are actively recruiting for a full-time Lab Technician in our Clear Lake, Texas location. Under the direct supervision of the Lab Supervisor, Manager, or Director, the Lab Technician is responsible for providing laboratory services and working directly with technical or assistant staff performing tests in the clinical laboratory. Additionally, the responsibility also includes assisting the other lab staff in daily duties and to provide support for all areas in the Endocrine/Andrology laboratory, as well for the IVF laboratory, as needed. The Lab Technician also provides assistance with scheduling patients for andrology procedures and tissue transport, accepting frozen tissue samples, performing all supporting documentation related to Andrology/Endocrine lab work to support frozen tissue acceptance. Obtain and maintain tissue bank licensure and certifications, if applicable to the work location.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Provide daily support to the IVF Laboratory as needed to meet time-sensitive workflow.
- Accurately maintain logs and clinical data.
- Enter specific clinical data into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Ship and receive specimens of sperm, eggs and embryos according to guidelines.
- Maintain Quality Control records.
- Move and change compressed gas and liquid nitrogen tanks and supplies.
- Keep the laboratory stocked and fully supplied through tracking and ordering of inventory.
- Maintain and stock all lab paperwork.
- Maintain the lab staff schedule.
- Receive visitors, answer phone calls, and triage appropriately.
- Outside MD patient in the EMR system and ensure patients are accurately scheduled in the EMR system. Send semen analysis reports to Outside MDs and clinic daily.
- Order compressed gasses and liquid nitrogen to maintain an adequate supply.
- Keep an accurate inventory and supply of compressed gasses and liquid nitrogen.
- Scan all lab charts into the EMR system.
- Ensure the lab is organized and clean at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Medical Technology, Chemistry, or other Applied Science; or Associate degree in Applied Science with 1 year lab experience; or qualifies as a technologist under state (DHR) provisions and regulations.
- Two years of related clerical/administrative job experience strongly preferred.
- One year of experience in a laboratory setting is required.
- One year of lab experience in human blood testing is required.
