ChristianaCare is currently seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for our Nurse Supervisor position for Ambulatory Oncology Infusion at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center in Newark, DE. This individual will also provide leadership support to our infusion team in Elkton, MD. Direct reports include 17.2 FTEs including RNs and Medical Assistants.
The registered nurse utilizes clinical and advanced leadership skills to coordinate and direct staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care services for the oncology infusion patient population in an ambulatory setting. The nurse will establish a high quality, safe, evidenced-based nursing care practice in the infusion suites to achieve optimum outcomes both independently and as a valued team member. The nurse will follow the Nursing Process when providing patient care and developing patient care workflows.
To be considered for this role, oncology experience is required and infusion experience is preferred.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Duties
- Assists Practice leadership with interviews, selects, and orients qualified clinical candidates.
- Collaborates with the NPDS to ensure system/practice required new hire orientation, onboarding, are completed and regular trainings and development are provided.
- Orients new clinical staff to clinical procedures.
- Assures compliance with organizational, quality and safety regulatory requirements.
- Assists leadership in developing and implementing performance improvement initiatives.
- Lead and supervise daily activities and workflows of oncology infusion including collaboration with team members to provide a safe, smooth, organized and efficient flow of patients and patient, provider and caregiver satisfaction.
- Completes quarterly and annual caregiver performance reviews.
- Provides follow up on patient/family/physician concerns and effectively addresses and intervenes, as indicated, resolve difficult, stressful, or volatile patient situations.
- Actively reports and follows up on R2L Alert System to ensure issues are addressed and closed in the system.
- Audit and monitors refrigerator & temperature and humidity monitoring systems if applicable.
- Audit QA and POCT Testing logs where applicable.
- Randomly shadows clinical support staff to ensure appropriate care is provided within scope of practice, CC policies and regulatory compliance.
- Mentors and acts as a resource for other registered nurses and team members to encourage development of their interdisciplinary approach and delegation skills.
- Prepares infusion staff schedules and makes staffing adjustments related to volume, acuity, and emergencies.
- Provide oversight and leadership for clinical projects and initiatives in tandem with practice leadership.
- Maintain regular touch points with satellite areas to address barriers and needs and to ensure continuous and open communication and availability.
- Facilitate daily/weekly team huddles to identify safety issues, suggestions for improvement, barriers to care, items requiring escalation and to problem solve as a group.
- Facilitate monthly staff meetings to present systemwide and department updates, to engage caregivers and to provide opportunity for team building, discussion, brainstorming and development of a team action-oriented plan to address current issues.
- Escalate operational concerns to clinical director.
- Serve as information/communication liaison between oncology infusion and clinical director.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Clinical Duties
- Supervises and performs clinical nursing duties as needed; including but not limited to taking vital signs, administration of medication, oncology infusions including chemotherapy and blood products, point of care testing, triage, EKG, patient education, appointment scheduling, documenting patient interactions in patient’s medical record and other clinical tasks as directed.
- Identifies infection prevention and patient safety concerns for the practice.
- Escalates nurse practice concerns to clinical director.
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
- Reports to Clinical Director Cancer Program in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Admin, or Business preferred.
- 3 years of Nursing experience required.
- 2 years’ experience as a RN, ambulatory infusion preferred.
- Oncology experience required.
- Clinical supervisory experience preferred.
Special Requirements
- Current license by State of Delaware.
- BLS certification.
- Professional certification.
