Our floor
Ahuja 5 th floor is a 36 bed medical/surgical unit, in which all beds have cardiac monitoring capability. It is comprised of all private rooms. Our patients range from 18 years old to 100+. On the 5 th floor, an interdisciplinary approach is used to provide safe, patient/centered quality care to those we care for, assisting in returning the patient to his or her optimal potential. The unit is staffed by a Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, RN’s, LPN’s, PCA’s and Clerical Associates. We work along-side the hospitalist team, community providers as well as many of the hospitals Nurse Practitioners and Physicians assistants. We also have a night shift nurse practitioner and surgical app on most evening shifts. We work well with other hospital departments to provide the best possible care to our patients.

We pride ourselves on our wonderful teamwork and treat our patients the way we would want our loved ones treated. We often have a nurse coordinator to help with LPN meds, extra tasks, and is there to support the staff throughout the day.

COMMON DIAGNOSES
COPD, Heart failure, Stroke, Pneumonia, Asthma/Bronchitis, Urinary Tract Infection, Chronic Renal Failure, Dehydration, Diabetes Mellitus, Cellulitis, Decubitus Ulcers, Wound Infections, Hospice Symptom Management and Gastrointestinal Problems
Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients and families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.
Dimensions are Implements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship based nursing care.
Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes.
Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.

Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices.
1 year RN experience preferred.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from accredited program preferred.
Minimum of Diploma/Associate’s Degree in nursing from accredited program.
License Requirements:
Registered nurse with current license to practice in the state of Ohio.
Current BLS Provider Certification, issued by the American Heart Association, must be obtained during Nursing Orientation.
