JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA is seeking a Research Technologist. The Lee lab is seeking a candidate for a Research Technologist - Medical Sciences - Advanced Professional for an integrated structural biology research lab at the Penn State University College of Medicine. The qualified candidate will have the opportunity to work independently with regular interactions with the PI. Experience in cell culture, biochemistry and molecular biology techniques is preferred. They must be willing and motivated to continuously learn new techniques and approaches. Successful candidates will be well-organized, be able to multi-task and simultaneously manage 2-3 complex projects with overlapping timelines at various stages of development.
Other responsibilities also include maintaining routine operation of laboratory such as ordering lab supplies, keeping all lab data base and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment. Qualified candidates should have a bachelor's degree in a chemistry or biology related area and preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in a cell biology, biochemistry/biophysics or molecular biology research lab. The selected individual will be expected to assist in developing, designing and conducting parts of research projects. The individual will participate in formulating research methods and identifying and solving problems. They will also coordinate data collection and analysis as well as interpret and present results. The selected individual will also be expected to train users in equipment operation and research techniques, as well as explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities. The individual will also be an author/co-author on papers, presentations, etc.
This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's degree preferred) plus 7 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is: $42,100.00 - $61,000.00.
