The oncology nurse navigator is a professional RN who adheres to established guidelines, employs the nursing process, leverages the healthcare facility's resources, and delivers high-quality cancer care to patients promptly. This specialized nurse possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills, facilitating effective information exchange among all stakeholders in the oncology program. The nurse is adept at selecting the most appropriate communication method for each stakeholder.
Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients who are sick, injured, or have disabilities.
- Keep detailed and accurate patient medical records.
- Assess conditions and develop treatment plans for patients.
- Instruct patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Observe and document changes in patient symptoms or behavior.
- Offer guidance and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Liaise with collaborating physicians or specialists concerning patient care.
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities.
Qualifications:
- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, BSN preferred, and licensed in the State of Montana.
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification required.
- ACLS and NRP certifications will be required within a reasonable time frame, not to exceed 12 months.
