The Auburn School is an independent day-school offering a specialized program for intellectually engaged students with social and communication challenges. We offer a dynamic educational program for intellectually curious students with challenges in the areas of communication, socialization, pragmatic language, and organization. Our program is appropriate for students who can learn successfully and appropriately in a small classroom setting. Auburnu2019s program simultaneously supports the development of academic skills, social competency, and pragmatic language in an engaging educational environment.

The Opportunity u00A0 u00A0
The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing social-emotional services for students who require additional support to thrive in school. They will deliver high-quality services as provided by SESI, and collaborate with both school personnel and families to provide services to students. Every child deserves to reach their full potential and weu2019re looking to hire an exceptional Therapist who will play an essential role in fueling student success. u00A0
Essential duties u00A0
- Assess each new student and evaluate OT needs u00A0
- Monitor therapy programs and consult with educational staff regarding the inclusion of appropriate occupational therapy treatment strategies into the educational program. u00A0
- Educate and demonstrate (verbally or written) therapy techniques to teachers and parents that can be incorporated into the classroom/home. u00A0
- Consult on IEPs and provided required documentation of studentsu2019 needs and supports . u00A0
- Monitor and manage the handwriting and keyboarding curriculum and train staff/parents in any applicable techniques. u00A0
- Provide group therapy interventions for K-8th grade classes. u00A0
- Assess and evaluate all studentsu2019 needs for individual or small group OT sessions. u00A0
- Attend parent/teacher meetings for studentsu2019 receiving OT as needed. u00A0

The Qualifications u00A0
- Masteru2019s degree u00A0required
- u00A0 P rofessional licensure from the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) u00A0
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a school, special education, or behavior al health setting working with children and adolescents is preferred. u00A0
