Licensed Speech Language Pathologists - Contractor
Abound Health is actively seeking a Contract Licensed Speech Language Pathologist to provide Specialized Consultative Services for our clients.
This is a contract position where you would be able to make your own schedule and manage your caseload based on the hours that work best for you and your clients. Service provision includes telehealth options.

Our Licensed Consultants provide expertise, assessment, training, and other assistance to family members, support staff, and other natural supports of our clients living with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Your role would be to provide services designed to equip the client’s direct care team with the tools to best support whole person care.
Service-Delivery Specifications
- Provide authorized Specialized Consultative Services to the Clients in the Clients’ home and in the community either in person or virtually.
- Adherence to North Carolina Division of Medical Assistance Clinical Coverage Policy to provide expertise, training, and technical assistance in a specialty area to assist family members, support staff, and other natural supports in assisting the beneficiary with developmental disabilities. Under this model, family members and other paid/unpaid caregivers are trained by a certified, licensed, and/or registered professional to carry out therapeutic interventions, consistent with the Individual Support Plan.
- Adherence to North Carolina Division of Medical Assistance Clinical Coverage Policy with regard to Specialized Consultation Services activities covered as follows:
- Observation of the individual to determine needs.
- Assessment of any current interventions for effectiveness.
- Development of a written intervention plan, which may include recommendations for assistive technology/equipment, home modifications, and vehicle adaptations or therapeutic exercises/interventions/strategies.
- Development of a written intervention plan, which may include preventative strategies and/or behavioral interventions.
- Training and technical assistance of relevant persons to implement the specific interventions/support techniques delineated in the intervention plans.
- Observe, record, monitor, and evaluate data related to intervention/support strategies.
- Review documentation and evaluate the activities conducted by relevant persons as delineated in the intervention plan.
- Revision of intervention plan as needed to assure progress toward achievement of outcomes.
- Participation in team meetings.
- Tele-consultation through use of two-way, real-time interactive audio and video to provide behavioral and psychological care when distance separates the care from the individual.
- Adherence to North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services APSM 45-2 Records Management and Documentation Manual specifications to provide and maintain documentation of the SCS Support Plan and Service Notes.
- Integrate adherence to practice set forth by North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services APSM 95-2 Client Rights Rules in Community Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services, specifically as it relates to SCS Support Plan development and implementation.
- Communicate relevant Client information to the Client’s Legally Responsible Persons, the Client’s Care Coordinators, Management, and Company.
- Protect the privacy and confidentiality of the Clients and the Clients’ records.
- Ensure Clients are free from abuse, mistreatment, and/or neglect and exploitation.
In delivering the Services, Contractor agrees:
- To follow all applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and Company policies applicable to Contractors.
- To document and immediately report any Incident involving the Client and/or staff at Client’s facility or service site to Abound Health. An Incident means any instance of abuse, mistreatment, neglect, and/or exploitation of a client; any instance of injury or illness to a client requiring more than basic at-home care; or any violation of law or regulation related to the Client or his/her facility or service site.
Legal Preconditions to Delivering Services
Contractor hereby represents, warrants, and certifies the following as a precondition to delivering the Services under the Agreement:
- Contractor is at least 18 years of age.
- Contractor holds current and valid licensure, registration, or certification specific to discipline. Contractor will take action as necessary to maintain active licensure, registration, or certification status, such as any continuing education requirements, mandatory trainings, and clinical consultation.
- Contractor is able to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
- Contractor has no substantiated findings of abuse or neglect listed on the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
- Contractor has disclosed any criminal convictions.
- Contractor has disclosed any disciplinary action upon their professional license, registration, or certification.
- Contractor is not listed on any state or federal sex offender registry.
- Contractor is not suspended, debarred, or excluded from participation in any state or federal contracting or healthcare program.
- Contractor has the legally required competency to deliver the Services by possessing necessary core skills, including relevant minimum technical knowledge, cultural awareness, analytical skills, decision-making skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, and clinical skills.
- Contractor meets all qualifications as outlined per service in the Innovations Waiver Service definitions; and all requirements as defined by Medicaid, the relevant Managed Care Organization, and state and federal standards, including areas of I/DD core competencies, specific competencies as identified by Client treatment plan, diplomas, certifications, and trainings.
