Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in accordance with the Standards of Practice and within the guidelines of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
The Surgical Technologist is responsible for establishing and maintaining a sterile field, a safe patient care environment, and appropriate supplies/equipment as required for the operative procedure.
Assists surgical team preparing for, during and after surgery.
Prepares operating room for surgery.
Acts as scrub person during surgery by performing a combination of tasks as directed by the surgical team.
Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors and tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from a Surgical Technologist approved program.
Certified Surgical Technologist, or become certified within 1 year of hire.
CPR; BLS.

EXPERIENCE:

At least 6 months - 3 years Surgical Tech experience.
