General Overview of Role:
This role involves reviewing the medical and medication requirements of incoming clients to ensure comprehensive care. Responsibilities include administering medications, acting as the primary responder to medical emergencies, and overseeing staff duties as required. You will ensure monthly safety drills are conducted and documented correctly. Observing clients for any medical issues and providing feedback to the leadership team is essential. Additionally, providing nursing support to intermediate care facility clients when necessary is part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments per physician’s orders and in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
- Must be able to administer medications via all routes.
- Monitors persons served for seizures, medication side effects, signs, and symptoms of illness, and provides necessary nursing interventions.
- Informs RN or Director of Nursing (DON) and/or physician of health status change/accidents and injuries of persons served.
- Completes all required documentation including, but not limited to, nurses notes, tracking forms, charting, incident reports, monthly/quarterly reports, etc.
- Assists with providing nursing services in group homes, including completing documentation as required by APD (65G-7) guidelines.
- When requested, assists with quality assurance reviews and files documents in charts.
- Assists with Respiratory Therapy and IV Therapy as needed.
- Attends and participates in meetings and trainings as requested.
- Ensures Infection Control Policies and Procedures are followed.
- Ensures a clean and safe environment to avoid accidents or injury to clients or staff.
- In case of employee injury, completes required documentation, administers First Aid if necessary, and follows worker’s compensation protocols.
- Assists with facility emergency procedures as needed, such as emergency evacuations.
- Reports to work for scheduled shifts and may be scheduled to work other shifts, holidays, and weekends to provide nursing coverage.
- Participates in outings and appointments, including, but not limited to, loading/unloading clients on and off vehicles, monitoring clients during transport, and assisting clients during outings.
- Completes housekeeping duties to ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
- Ensures compliance with Quest’s policies and procedures.
- Assists with training new employees as needed.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school for Licensed Practical Nurses required.
- Current unrestricted state of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse license required.
- Florida Driver’s License with no more than two moving violations in the past three years.
- Able to work in the US and not require Visa Sponsorship from our company now or in the future.
- Effectively communicate at all levels, write, and speak English using acceptable grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Organize and prioritize workflow to meet deadlines.
- Work independently without constant supervision and complete work tasks to completion.
- Problem-solve and use good judgement when making decisions.
- Conduct self in a professional and courteous manner.
- Keep information confidential and refrain from gossip.
- Proficiently use a computer and electronic medical records.
