Unit: Day Stay/Outpatient Infusion
Location: Employee would split time between the following locations:
Baystate Noble Hospital
115 West Silver Street, Westfield MA
Baystate Medical Center – Medical Office Building
2 Medical Center Drive, Springfield MA
Schedule: Full time Days, 8 AM – 4:30 pm – 40 hours per week. Weekends as needed.
Summary: Daily activities are coordinated by the Registered Nurse (RN). The PCT will perform a variety of technical tasks and bedside functions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Direct patient care; hygiene, skin care, mobility, and monitoring. Will have multi skills for what is needed on the unit, to perform all duties relative to phlebotomy and EKGs. The PCT is expected to manage equipment and perform or assist in all procedures on the unit. This description covers the essential functions of the position. The incumbent is expected to perform other similar and related duties as assigned. Management has the right to change or add to the job responsibilities at any time.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides age-appropriate care to patients, demonstrating knowledge of developmental stages for the following age groups.
- Monitors basic physiological parameters, takes and records routine vital signs, and reports significant deviations.
- Administers treatments and procedures per BMC policy/procedure.
- Assists patients with the elimination of body wastes and accurately labels and sends specimens.
- Performs Point of Care (POC) Testing.
- Assists in the delivery of ancillary services as directed.
- Communicates effectively with team and patients.
- Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures.
- Functions as a member of the team.
- Demonstrates competency for one-to-one observation of patients.
Required Work Experience:
At least one year of patient care experience (this experience can vary in level of long-term care, specialty, acute care, etc.).
Preferred Work Experience:
CNA License or PCT Training.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in reading and writing in English.
Qualifications:
- CPR-Basic Life Support of Healthcare Provider required from the American Heart Association.
- Patient Care Experience.
- Certified Nursing Assistant Certification preferred.
- Every other holiday and weekend commitment.
- Great interpersonal skills, compassionate caregiver, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education: GED or HiSET
Certifications: Basic Life Support – American Heart Association, Certified Nurse Aide – Other
