Job Summary:
Will function as a technologist in one or more areas (Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry/Microscopy, Blood Bank, and Immunology) of the laboratory performing patient care testing. Perform duties that may include running various laboratory instrumentation, performing manual testing, specimen receiving and processing, computer-related duties such as patient entry, test request entry/requisition format, online/manual entry of test results, data retrieval, printing and answering worksheets, printing panic and pending log sheets, phoning panic values, and documenting in the computer system, quality control, reagent preparation, and following general laboratory and safety procedures including universal precautions and chemical and biochemical hazard precautions.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and 2 years clinical lab experience required. Candidates with less than 2 years clinical lab experience or with a NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician will be considered for appointment to a commensurate title and salary. Must be able to distinguish colors for the purposes of performing laboratory tests.
Work Days:
Night shift - Sunday through Thursday 11p-7:30a
