Overall responsibility for the management Psychiatric Acute Services. Also responsible for the planning, organization, implementation, evaluation of programs, services, and treatment for the Psychiatric Acute patient. Has responsibility for overall direction, coordination of mental health services for the Psychiatric Acute Unit. Assists in the development of division goals and objectives. Maintains effective interface within Behavioral Services Division, all other hospital division, various agencies, and the community. Oversees quality and utilization review for the division.
Responsibilities:
Directs, supervises, coordinates activities and functions of Psychiatric Acute Services. Coordinates and plans evaluation and treatment for Psychiatric Acute and Emergency Services.
Assures adequate staffing and schedules staffs work time according to patient acuity and guidelines for clinical staffing. Develops and maintains a current Psychiatric Acute policy and procedure manual in conformance with state and federal guidelines and hospital policy. Implements mental health code policies and treatment plans according to established objectives. Monitors and evaluates quality and appropriateness of care provided to patients, ensuring that identified problems are reported as appropriate to the quality assurance program. Provides for professional ancillary programs and services in cooperation with other professional staff, i.e., recreational, occupational, and social services. Provides for the continual quality improvement and growth of all members of the Psychiatric Acute Unit, cooperating with in-service in the development in Psychiatric Services Management and nursing concepts and practices.
Qualifications:
Masters degree in psychiatric nursing preferred.
Three - five years progressive clinical and management experience on a psychiatric unit,
or a Bachelor’s degree and Five - seven years progressive clinical and management experience in caring for mental health patients.
NYS RN Licensure.
