Midwife
A Non-profit healthcare system is seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife to join the Women’s Center.
The incumbent is a registered and certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) who provides direct health care to women. Provides care in the philosophy of natural family planning and NaProtechnology (Natural Procreative Technology). Provides women with prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and all-inclusive gynecological care within the scope of his/her practice. Complements the OB/GYN MDs in providing care to women with moderately complex issues, both acute and chronic.
Serves as a patient educator. The CNM is both office and hospital-based and can independently provide obstetric care to patients who request.
Responsibilities
- Provides routine gynecological and obstetrical care for women.
- Performs prenatal and postnatal check-ups.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic studies and lab work for OB/GYN patients.
- Differentiates normal from abnormal findings through the physical exam as well as the review of baseline histories.
- Orders and interprets lab work and other diagnostic studies for GYN patients.
- Develops and implements a plan of care that may include prescribing medications and/or other treatments.
- Provides complete pre-natal care including abdominal and pelvic exams.
- Provides obstetrical management and attends deliveries of hospital patients presenting at or over 35 completed weeks of pregnancy.
- Provides care for patients with moderately complex pregnancy-related or gynecological problems.
- May perform designated office procedures such as NSTs, AFl's, endometrial biopsies, Bartholin Word Catheters, skin biopsies, and colposcopies with appropriate training and certifications.
