Nemours is seeking a Physical Therapist (Part-Time) to join our Nemours Children's Health Therapy Services team in Wilmington, Delaware.
*This position will be split between Riverfront Fieldhouse and Nemours Children's Health Outpatient Therapy. Works 20-29 hrs/week in a regular permanent schedule.
Provides physical therapy patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Actively participates in departmental education activities in order to expand knowledge of patient populations and evidence-based practice.
Maintains core competencies and any additional competencies determined to be necessary by the management team to ensure patient care needs are met.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults;
- Able to provide physical therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
- Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
- Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
- Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
- Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
- Completes all mandatory training; may include, but not limited to safety, infection control, corporate compliance, HIPAA, bioterrorism, CPR and program specific respiratory training.
- Participates in triage and coverage planning as necessary to meet patient care and departmental needs.
- When required by assignment, participates in weekend/holiday inpatient coverage rotation, including checking the code blue cart per guideline #7980.GL.24.
- Team Work: Participates in conflict identification and resolution. Works cooperatively on multidisciplinary, single discipline, program specific and specialty teams. Assists in maintenance of department space and equipment.
- Professional Development: Independently seeks to expand clinical knowledge and evidenced based practice through literature reviews, inservices, courses and mentorships. May provide input on new treatment intervention strategies to ensure evidenced-based and current practices.
Job Requirements
- Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy required.
- Minimum of 3-6 months experience required.
- Valid State of Delaware Physical Therapist license required upon hire.
- A second license will be required for all clinical positions (PA, NJ, MD). Must submit license or proof of application submission within 2 weeks of job acceptance, but this second license is not required to be active at the start of employment.
- American Heart Association BLS Certification required within 6 months of date of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment.
- Member of professional specialty organizations (APTA, State PT Assoc.) preferred.
- Clinical affiliation and/or work experience in pediatrics is preferred. Experience with physically and/or mentally challenged populations preferred.
