Summary: This leadership role is responsible for oversight of the Electronics Lab activities and team, and all other aspects related to this area. The Electronics Lab team leader will also coordinate with other functional teams within Engineering and other departments to ensure proper functioning and timely closure of all the lab tasks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and motivation in managing the laboratory team (up to 10 individuals) and its activities to ensure best performance from all.
- Actively participates in the continuous product testing to maintain SAFRAN's on the Qualified Product List, including supporting technical discussions with the authorities (DLA, NAVAIR, etc.).
- Authors, maintains and manages the laboratory test procedures within the PLM.
- Ensures ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the equipment and testing capabilities, address any issue and develop a recovery plan as necessary.
- Develops and maintain communication and scheduling tools providing facility wide visibility on the laboratory status.
- Tracks all opened actions including but not limited to qualification testing, group testing, development testing, troubleshooting and investigation, maintenance and repairs, on all equipment.
- Develops an improvement plan for additional capabilities, capacity or replacement of obsolete parts and equipment.
- Ensures business continuity via resource planning, critical equipment redundancies, safety stock, preventative maintenance or any other means as necessary.
- Develops and maintains the team skills, autonomy and ownership. Ensures critical skills continuity, identifies back up plans and develop hiring plans as required. Actively participate in the hiring and onboarding process.
- Evaluates performance of individuals for their quality of work and effectiveness in accomplishing assignments. Implements corrective actions when necessary.
- Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental programs and culture.
- Perform additional duty as assigned per management.
- Travel requirements: Occasional travel.
- Evening/night, extra hours may be required during business peaks.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Budget responsibility for team.
- Bi-annual appraisal of the team members.
- Manages a team of up to 10 individuals.
Physical Demands:
- May require long periods of sitting.
- May require lifting up to 20 lbs.
- May require prolonged repetitive use of upper extremities.
Work Environment:
Work environment is shared between test laboratory, typical office environment and production environment requiring the use of typical office equipment, test equipment some tooling. Some areas may require the use of PPE.
Education and/or Experience:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years engineering experience.
- A minimum of 1 year of management experience.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of MIL SPECS (6106, 83383, etc.).
- Advanced knowledge in Electrics (schematics, Ohm's law, Power Factor, Different types of load, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability in leadership, motivation.
- Solid technical judgement.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with individuals/teams at all levels within the organization and with customers.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering disciplines.
- Strong organizational and reporting skills.
- Ability to provide clear direction and delegation.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with aerospace regulations.
- GD&T knowledge.
- Labview.
- PLM System.
- Electronics.
