The Quality Improvement Consultant, a vital part of the Cardiac Division Quality Improvement Team, provides safety and quality strategic guidance and support in the Cardiac Division, contributing significantly to improving patient care.
This Quality Improvement Consultant will be responsible to:
- Advise and collaborate with the Cardiac Division staff on safety & quality improvement work.
- Provide analysis, management, and methodological support, including developing measurement plans for performance indicators.
- Prepare written and graphical reports utilizing appropriate QI data analytics techniques, including development of dashboards to track performance and highlight opportunities for data-driven improvements.
- Provide project management of quality improvement initiatives using project management and QI methodologies.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities of various projects and tasks, including meeting logistics, information dissemination, and organization, and creating and tracking project plans/assignments.
- Oversee and facilitate production of education materials, surveys, algorithms, and other deliverables as needed.
- Provide QI education and mentorship to faculty, residents/fellows, nursing, and other staff.

To qualify, you must have:
- A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Management or a closely related field and 2 yrs of data management experience in a clinical setting is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience in data management may substitute.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Model for Improvement.
- Certification and/or license in quality/process improvement, such as Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, is preferred.
- Experience working with clinical teams, including physician participants.
- Knowledge of data interpretation tools (SPC, run, control, and Pareto charts, and other measurement tools) and data extraction from data repositories such as Microstrategy.
- Proficiency in data analytics software: Excel (Pivot Tables and Charts); REDCap; SigmaXL, SQC, STATA, SAS, and/or SPSS.
- Experience with project management and quality/process improvement methodologies (LEAN Six Sigma and/or Model for Improvement).
- Familiarity with project management/process improvement software: Smartsheet and MS Visio.
- Strong organizational skills to ensure project deliverables and deadlines are achieved.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues, mediate fair solutions, provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations, and well-developed writing skills.
