The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is currently searching for a dynamic, technically minded individual to be the staff lead for its Coasts, Oceans, Ports, Rivers Institute (COPRI) providing the leadership, high performance, and positive energy necessary to influence, initiate, and implement appropriate COPRI activities and programs and services for the benefit of our members, their professional well-being, and the growth and sustainment of Institute members and revenues.
Responsibilities include:
- Directing and managing overall operations of Institute (manage and develop staff, establish budget, reconcile finances)
- Planning, coordinating, and executing existing technical conferences and developing new technical conferences, webinars, and workshops
- Advising on developing and implementing communications, marketing, and sales plans for membership, events, products, etc., through newsletters, website, social media, and exhibiting
- Supporting and guiding the Institute's Board of Governors (BOG)
- Managing technical, educational, professional and standards activities; facilitating the advancement of Institute committee activities in those areas
- Networking with other similarly aligned organizations and identifying opportunities to partner with them and respond appropriately to potential challenges
- Responding to various inquiries of Institute membership and determining appropriate resources
- Creating, editing, and/or revising detailed technical letters, reports, proposals, and contracts
- Overseeing awards program, and student and professional chapters
Ideal candidates will have:
- A 4-year degree in engineering or technically related field, or association management - an advanced degree is preferred
- 8-10 years' experience in an engineering field, or association management experience with a technically oriented organization
- Mastery of the MS Office Suite of products
- Demonstrated success managing people, programs, and projects
- Adept at marketing, negotiations, networking, operations management, multi-tasking, diplomacy, & listening
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
