We are currently recruiting for a Medical Director I to function as the Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Central Regional Hospital (CRH). The Medical Director I is a psychiatrist who works directly with the Chief Medical Officer, overseeing the organization, planning and delivery of psychiatric/clinical care provided at the hospital. The Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) is involved in direct supervision of one or more of the Unit Clinical Directors on the various service units, generally divided by subspecialties.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Oversight of psychiatric training and advises the local site supervisors of the Duke and UNC residency training programs.
- Policy making that involves the clinical care provided by the various service areas.
- Preparation and oversight of regulatory visits/surveys by Joint Commission and CMS.
- Serves on the hospital's Executive Team and in that role would collaborate with the hospital leadership and with other professional disciplines to ensure that appropriate care is provided and that the hospital mission, values and goals are transmitted to clinical staff.
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with 24-hour coverage/responsibility. Flexibility is required in this role to meet hospital needs. This position is designated as Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of general psychiatry.
- Knowledge of the developments in the field of psychiatric medicine.
- Knowledge of state/federal, organizational, and medical board rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of biological, social, and psychological development process of patients served.
- Knowledge of planning, budgeting and policy making processes.
- Skill in leadership, teaching and management techniques.
- Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams in developing and managing patient quality care practices.
- Ability to represent the needs of clinical care services to decision makers who provide resources.
ADA Physical requirements will be discussed during the interview.
Manager Preference:
- Completion of General Psychiatry Residency program
- Board Certification in Psychiatry
Licensed to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina and three years of experience including two years in health services delivery management. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus:
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
- A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
- the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
- the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
- or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
