What will you be doing:
The Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP) is responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process, supervision of clinical practice, research involvement, consultative services, inter and intradepartmental liaison, education, leadership, and patient care management across the health care continuum from preventative, acute care through discharge. A Nurse Practitioner’s practice incorporates both independent decision-making abilities and collaboration with the board certified/eligible physician to provide expert care to the patients.
- Schedule includes both 8-Hour Day Shift and Night Shift (16-Hours).
- Responsible to the medical director and the chief nursing officer (CNO) and functions as an integral part of the medical team.
- Practices under the Board of Registered Nursing California code of regulations, Title 16, Article 8, Section 1480-1485, utilizing the Nurse Practitioner Standardized Procedures. These are developed in a collaborative effort within the area of specialty, department of Nursing and the Hospital Administration, incorporating CSHS goals and represent an interdisciplinary approach to patient care delivery.
- Provides individualized care upholding CSHS philosophies including but not limited to care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, the Plan for Provision of Patient Care, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan, the Professional Organization Standards, Code of Conduct, and hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to age and developmental milestones of the population(s) served which may include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
- Can identify the ability of the age specific population served to follow direction/instructions and give consent. Identify safety concerns and institute measures to provide safe environment and provide appropriate assessment, intervention, and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental milestones in the population served.
Qualifications- Experience Requirements:
- One (1) plus years experience as Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP), preferably in NICU.
- Three (3) plus years of nursing experience.
- Educational/Licensure/Certifications Requirements:
- Master of Nursing Degree
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing
- Current State of California Registered Nurse and Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP) License (eligible to obtain)
- National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current DEA license and Furnishing Number
- Current BLS and PALS certification
