What you'll do
In this role on AlixPartners' Corporate Services team, you will work closely with senior practice leaders as well as the Business Intelligence Center team. Your role will include providing strategic support on special projects and helping to deliver excellent service to our industries, communities, and markets.
The Business Intelligence Specialist - Analytics is a full-time role located in Southfield, MI, Dallas, Texas, Chicago, Illinois, or New York, New York and reports to a Business Intelligence Director or Business Intelligence Manager. Paid relocation is not available for this position.
- Support the development and implementation of machine learning models to analyze various data sets, providing actionable insights to support business decisions.
- Conduct research using various research tools including Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Factiva, and Statista to gather and preprocess data for ML and AI applications.
- Perform complex data analysis using various data sets and work with external research providers to ensure quality and timely delivery of financial, situation, and performance analysis and research.
- Provide support to Industry/Service offering teams to support new business opportunity identification/screening leveraging predictive analytics and ML techniques.
- Review connections to potential target clients and communicate results to consultants incorporating data-driven insights and ML models.
- Support in developing client presentations to pitch for new business opportunities.
- Provide ad hoc business development support and research assistance to the various communities utilizing advanced statistical methods and machine learning models.
- Support efforts to continuously innovate and improve analytical processes using ML, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, adequately tested, timely projects.

What you'll need
- Minimum one (1) year of professional experience required. Demonstrated performance in roles focused on machine learning and advanced analytics.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) with a preference for a concentration in computer science, data science, statistics, finance, or a related field.
- Professional services experience preferred.
- Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation.
- Excellent analytical skills with experience in statistical methods and machine learning techniques.
- Proficiency in Python and experience delivering ML insights highly preferred.
- Proficiency with Alteryx is a plus.
- Ability to find creative and practical solutions, and a desire to innovate and improve status quo for betterment of the team.
- Sound judgment, common sense, problem-solving ability.
- Commitment to success of team with the ability to collaborate and engage with colleagues and work across to accomplish goals.
- Adept at multi-tasking within a high expectation and fast-paced environment.
- Assure the quality and timely completion and delivery of projects including prioritizing projects during peak activity times.
- Ability to communicate complex problems to non-data science business stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; other languages a plus.
- Willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
- Ability to work in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.

The hourly range for this role takes into account a number of factors and is between $36/hr. - $50/hr. with potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
