Position Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Capital Projects Planning & Construction, this role provides collaboration, communication, innovation, and leadership in support of the University's construction operation. Effectively collaborates with cross-functional team members to establish a high-performing team capable of cross-utilizing skill sets in support of the department's initiatives. Directs, manages, and oversees small and large capital, non-capital, deferred maintenance, special repair, and departmental projects. Responsible for managing schedules, budgets, and staffing. Balances project workloads and requirements for a team of project managers and engineers. Inspires collaboration between operational leaders, support departments, capital planning, and end users. Establishes and fosters a culture within the Planning & Project Management team focused on finding success through strong collaboration with all parties.
Accountable for establishing goals to meet project budgets and schedules, while managing the logistics and potential impact of projects at the University and Nebraska Medicine. Provides guidance to staff ensuring that projects are executed by focusing on the following principles: cost effectiveness, quality, safety, code compliance, and schedule; while meeting program requirements. Maintains focus on concurrent projects in various stages of construction. Develops departmental guidelines, procedures, and services to consistently encourage and demonstrate action in fulfillment of the Campus Services Mission, Vision, and Values. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate ideas, provide direction, inspire collaboration, develop and mentor skilled professionals, and promote and develop high-performing teams. Provides leadership and guidance to project managers that facilitate and/or coordinate the design and construction, communications, decision making, and problem solving between project owners, Facilities Management, construction teams, architects, designers, and other project stakeholders. Actively participates in selecting project architects, engineers, and other professional consultants and contractors. Oversees and assists as needed in the preparation of technical, bidding, and construction documents. Approves project budgets and other costs and provides leadership in negotiating contracts and change orders.

Salary Range: $110,200 - $176,300/annual
