Description:
At Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, the Nursing Director for Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation Service Lines provides innovative leadership and is a change agent to advance professional nursing practice within the Trinity Health Leadership System. This position will require travel between Mount Sinai and Saint Francis Hospital campuses.
What you will do:
- Operational objectives and performance of the emergency services.
- Determining clinical and administrative nursing goals; acquiring and allocating material, financial, and human resources; evaluating and revising plans and processes related to resources and clinical practice; providing leadership in the management and development of patient care staff; facilitating research and inquiry into best practice for nursing.
- Facilitating collaborative relationships with the Service Line Directors, physicians, and other healthcare leaders and acting as a role model to develop and mentor the next generation of nursing leaders.
- Serve as a facilitator for the shared decision-making process and provide leadership for utilization of best practice evidence, scholarly work in nursing, and advancement of professional practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science BSN in Nursing required. A Master of Science in Nursing MSN is preferred.
- Registered Nurse RN Licensure: Valid and current Connecticut registered nurse licensure is required.
- Experience: 7 or more years of progressive nursing management experience in Behavioral Health, Rehabilitation, or Medical Surgical service lines is required. A combination of experiences in staff nursing specialties and clinical management is strongly preferred.
- BLS or CPR certification: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification will be accepted.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification: Certification/instructorship is preferred.
Preferred Competencies:
- Knowledge of regulatory standards, i.e., CMS, The Joint Commission, and DPH. Computer literacy, i.e., competence in using web-based applications, e-mail, and standard word and data applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- An expressed desire to champion professional nursing practice and improve interdisciplinary care models through the creative utilization of education and technology.
- Demonstrated competency in financial management, i.e., develops and analyzes budgets and develops and implements business plans.
- Demonstrated ability to make complex and strategic decisions and accept accountability for outcomes. Flexibility to respond and adapt to an environment that is quickly changing.
