Job Description - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) - 4/10 Hour Shifts (CAL0008N)
Description
The CRNA will be responsible for:
- Pre-operative and immediate post-operative visits to patients, reporting the findings to the Anesthesiologist.
- Complete an accurate and thorough assessment of patients and develop a plan of care for anesthesia.
- Administers anesthesia under the direction of an Anesthesiologist and demonstrates skills including: intravenous cannulization, drug administration, airway management, endotracheal intubation, manual and mechanical ventilation, monitoring, and arterial cannulization.
- To maintain clinical records and document charges.
- Reports changes in the patient's condition to anesthesiologist and surgeon.
- To check and clean anesthesia equipment in assigned area at the termination of a case.
- To report malfunctioning equipment to the Chief CRNA.
- To generate the intra-operative anesthetic report.
- To function as a part of the Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation team.
- Ability to continually reassess patient and alter plan of care in collaboration with anesthesiologist.
Qualifications
- Current Alabama license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Alabama license to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
- The Nurse Anesthetist must be licensed and re-certified by the following: National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists and Alabama Board of Nursing, Registered Nurse – CRNA.
- Provides quality patient care for the needs of the populations served and age specific groups as indicated: pediatric (>1 – 12 years), adolescent (>12 – 17 years), adult (>17 – 65 years), and geriatric (>65 years).
- BLS certification required by the end of employee provisional period. ACLS and PALS certification required within one year of employment.
