About The Team:
Our Business Technology team’s mission is to push the boundaries of technology with the intention of going above and beyond to aid stores and corporate employees to deliver timely solutions to benefit all members of Grocery Outlet. Our team consists of problem solvers and go-getters who are dedicated to being service-oriented and solving important problems. This role reports to the VP - Product Management.
About The Role:
The Project Manager is in overall, end-to-end charge of the project, from shaping the approach to achieving the desired outcomes through delivery. The position involves:
- Coordinating projects and resource management within the project
- Defining project success criteria and disseminating them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle.
- Stakeholder and sponsor communications
- Reporting
- Project financial management
Responsibilities Include:
- Leads the development of the overall approach for the Project, its major time frames, and the definition of its major deliverables to address and meet the desired goals and outcomes.
- Partners with the executive sponsor to communicate project goals, objectives, and potential outcomes.
- Regular interactions with the executive sponsor lead to informed, alert, negotiate and maintain a continuing good relationship and shared vision for the project outcome.
- Establishes and ensures appropriate governance functions for the project, in accordance with enterprise policies and practices, on behalf of the executive sponsor or business owner.
- Directs the creation and maintenance of the required project documentation and artifacts.
- Develops and controls the project budget and manages expenditures within agreed spending plans.
- Ensures and balances the required skills and competencies available across project teams within the project.
- Determines and assesses the need for additional staff and/or consultants and makes the appropriate recruitments, if necessary, during the project cycle.
- Leads reviews with the executive sponsor and stakeholders to identify organic or specific project needs and changes and directs the development of appropriate approaches to address.
- Leads the development and maintenance of stakeholder mapping, communications, and reporting.
- Acts as an advisor and builds and maintains relationships across the wider stakeholder community.
- Oversees the execution of projects, their progress compared with the plan, and the production of agreed deliverables. Proactively manages changes in project scope, identifies potential risks, and devises contingency plans.
- Monitors and coordinates dependencies across the projects in the project and resolves conflicts.
- Supports and facilitates agenda setting for project committee meetings.
- Contributes to and follows EPMO and Business Technology policies and procedures.
About The Pay:
- Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000 Annually

About You:
- Five to seven years of experience in IT business/industry
- Three to five years in diverse roles with increasing project leadership responsibilities across projects
- Consulting leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience in managing “upward” among senior leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate the project objectives, inspire and motivate staff, and maintain alignment with the business strategy.
- A high degree of political sensitivity, astuteness, and the ability to use the informal power structure of the organization to achieve project success and overcome obstacles.
- A high level of empathy and the ability to vary interaction styles to match the needs of various temperaments and personalities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain and “sell” the project goals and objectives to the business and technical leadership.
- Strong business acumen, including industry- and domain-specific knowledge of the organization and its business units. Familiarity with industry trends and innovation.
- Influencing and negotiation experience and skills in an environment with high competition for resources.
- Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and execution skills.
- Ability to develop projects and deliver them with financial and resource constraints.
- Experience with at least one project/Project management methodology, such as:
- The Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMI PMBOK)
- PRINCE2
- Agile
- Managing Successful Projects (MSP)
- Experience across a range of project types.
- Knowledge of project planning tools, such as Microsoft Project and Project Server, Plainview – AdaptiveWork, JIRA, AzureDevops with evidence of practical application.
- Deep understanding of:
- Current and emerging technologies.
- How other organizations are employing current and emerging technologies to drive digital business.
- How other organizations can use current and emerging technologies to drive digital business.
